Abstract
Yield of n JRP-TURBT (Transurethral re~ection of prostate transurelhr.Uresection of blacJcJer tumor) in Mosul has not been studied before. Pros tatic &bluddcr cancers are u1cteasiug in this specific loca lity, to kt1ow their li:l:quencyand grade$ this stUdy wns done. Four hundred and ninety TURP-TURBT chipswere recei ved, examined grossly, processed routinely, and then analyzedmicroscopi~ally. The study was pedonned in Alznhrewi hospital -histopathology laboratories of Mosul city in Iraq between January 2006 andthrough December 2007. There were :no (65.3%) were taken hy TURP and 170(34.7%); were taken by 1'URBT (142 mole and 28 female). :Beo.ign prostatichyperplasia was the predominant TUlU' tin ding (2&2; l!l!. 1% cases), whileprostatic carcinoma was found in 38 (1 1.9%) cases. Most of the prostatll cancercases were rllceived as high grades (Gleason's grad~> 4 and 5). Transitional cellcarcinoma was the chiefTURBT finc.lll1g ( 149; 87.6'%), prostatic carc inoma andtransitional cell carcinoma are common iu this locality. Most cases of prostatecarcinoma we re diagnosed as high grades.
