| A cross-sectional study was conducted uo determine the extent and pattern of selfmedication among adults, to identify U1t:ir knowledge and pmctice concerning thepurchased di'Ug sand to calculate prescribing and purchaser care indicators. FollowingWHO methods, 30 pharmacies were mndomly ~elected from Tilcrit city, Iraq. Of 1000clients interviewed at these ph:mnacies, 811 (81.1 %} purchased self-medication; thecommonest reason given was a belief that the condition was minor. The mostfrequently dispensed drugs were those for the respiratory system. The mean nwnberof drugs per encounter was 1.1 0, mean cost I 500 ID, and mean dispensing tin1e 2.53minutes. Purchasers' knowledge and prnctice regarding the pun:hased drugs werepoor. | ||
