Abstract
Whooping cough (pertussis) is a highly contagiou.s caused by Bordetellapertussis. During the last decade three Bordctella penu~sis isolates have beenfound to be resislant to Cl)1hromycin. the azithromycin are used for treatment ofpertussis. Sixty Child 35 31 (5-day group) and 29 (10-day group) "ith penussisin private clinic were evaluated for more efficiency of a S·day courseaJithrom)'cin in compare' to a I 0-day course erythromycin therapy Treatmentoutcome' were stand on rates of bacteriological cure. Participants ererandomized to receive 5 Days azithromycin (I 0 mglkgld) once a day or I 0 DaysEl)1hromycio 40 -50 mgikgl d in 4 divided doses, Bacteriological persistencedid 001 happened for a7ithromycin ( 0% ) But for ety1hromycin ( one ~3.44 %).Bacteriological failures occurred wilh n;ithromycin treatment ( one~3.22°1e)whi!e in £1)1hromycin (two -7.40 %) the estimates of bacterial curewere ele,ated for azithromycm %.77% m compares for ety1hromycin 93.10%the bacterial cure rate time was 16.48 days for azithromycin less than for~l')'lhromyciD 24.2625 days. The Variance in clinical manifestation duration fora.tithromycin 36.6 days less than for el')thromycin 47.5 days for that our studyrecommended that 5-day n1ithromycin is more efficient than I 0-dayerythromycin in the treatment of pertu>sis in children.
