| Abstract | ||
| Abstract Author is one of the important aspects in literary criticism. It has preoccupied most critics who have their different points of departure. This research is an interpretive study of author in Graham Greene’s The Power and the Glory. It tackles validity in interpreting the author’s thesis and visions. It handles the author’s functions and intentions. It adopts E.D. Hirsch’s conception of validity in interpretation, David Bleish’s classification of authors, and the other interpretive classifications of author’s functions. As for author’s intentions, the research adopts Barbara Hernstein Smith’s conception of authorial intention. The most important finding in the research is the possibility of the emergence of an invalid interpretation of the author’s visions in The Power and the Glory. | ||
