Abstract
In this study chemical modification has been achieved for terramycine (oxytetracycline), antibiotic by replacement the protons of amide group by vinyl group , through the treatment of terramycine with vinyl acetate and potassium carbonate in the presence of dimethyl formamide ( DMF) as solvent. It was noted that the product has substituted vinyl groups , indicated by physical measurements , and spectroscopic identifications ( UV and IR spectra). Also the study was determined the antibacterial activity of the prepared derivative represented by inhibition diameters , minimum inhibitory concentrations and cytotoxicity.
