Abstract
Afield trial was carried out during summer season of 2008 at AL-Mishkhab Rice Research Station at Najaf Governorate/ Iraq to investigate the effects of some of herbicides (Azimsulfuron , Propanil and Oxadizon) on rice and companion weeds of rice and some growth parameters and yield . A factorial experiment was assigned with RCBD design with four replications. The result showed that the Azimsulfuron caused reduced number of weeds at stage 30 , 60 , 90 days from plant sowing 9.9 , 7.5 , and10.2 plant.m־2 respectively, and also reduced the dry weight of weeds by 85.8% according to the weedy treatment, therefore, it gave highest number of tillers 244.0 tillers.m-2, and number of grains per panicle 18.9 grains, so the Azimsulfuron gave superior paddy of rice 618.2gm.m-2while the control treatment gave lowest paddy yield of rice 243.6gm.m-2, the Azimsulfuron caused increasing paddy of rice by percentage 60.6% compared with weedy treatment |
