Abstract
An experiment was conducted at a nursery belonging to Najaf Municipality / Holy Najaf province during the period of 2006-2007 to study the effect of three types of of chemical fertilizers on growth of pelargonium odoratissimum L. , : Urea CO (NH2)2 (46% N) , Diammonium phosphate (NH4) 2 HPO4 (20% N) (P%11) and Ammonium sulphat (NH4)2 SO4 (21% N) (S% ) at level of 240kg N /ha for each fertilize and control ( without fertilizinetion ), Chemical fertilizers were added every two months and a half in two parts. Randomized Complete Block Design (R.C.B.D) was used with three replicates ,Results showed that all chemical fertilizers have significant effects on the vegetative growth of plant but the Urea fertilizer gave the highest increase in plant height , leaves area , shoot dry weight and the ratio of the shoot dry weight / root dry weight reaching (13.05cm , 301.91cm2 , 8.413g and 2.29) respectively, also the addition of Diammonium phosphate gave a significant increase in leaf content of total chlorophyll ( 17.19 mg. 100 g-1 fresh weight ). Fertilization with Ammonium sulphate has been significantly increased the number of branches in plant (13.96 branch. plant-1), Besides there were no significant difference between the types of nitrogen fertilizers in the carbohydrate amount, dry material percentage, and nitrogen percentage in leaves . |
