| Abstract | ||
| Abstract Experiment was conducted in the fields of the college of Agriculture, University of Kufa for summer season 2009 in order to study the effect of a tillage and seeding system in the irrigation water use efficiency and yield of two varieties of rice (Anbar 33 and Yasmeen). A split plots design with RCBD in three replications was used in carrying out the experiment . The varieties were represented the main plots with two levels , while the system of tillage and seeding were represented the sub plots with six levels, including two tillage system are conventional tillage ( Mold board plow) and minimum tillage (chisel plow) , with three methods of seeding for each system are dry , wet and transplanting seeding . The research results indicated that : The tillage and seeding system had a significant effects on the studied parameters . The conventional tillage system with transplanting showed the highest grain yield that is 5.090 and 6.573 t/he for the varieties Anbar 33 and Yasmeen respectively . While the minimum tillage system with transplanting had a significant effect on water use efficiency that is 0.202 and 0.266 gm/L , which means that the production of one kg. of rough rice seeds required 4951 and 3758 L/ kg for the Anbar 33 and Yasmeen respectively . The results also indicated that the minimum tillage with dry seeding and the minimum tillage with wet seeding gave the lowest depth of applied water .The treatment of minimum tillage system with transplanting method had a highest ratio of saving total applied water that is ( 21.16 and 15.55) % for the Anbar 33 and Yasmeen respectively. The research indicated that the Yasmeen variety showed better results in yield , water use efficiency and total applied water, while the Anbar 33 variety had better result in water saving ratio . | ||
