Summary
This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of five new durum wheat genotypes (Triticum durum .Desf): Berch-1, Syrian-4, Yousef-1, Lagmarb-1 and Aisrtan/3/ in addition to a local variety (Om-Rabee) , under three seeding rates (120,140 and 160 Kg/HA) in 2003-2004 season for two locations, Mosul and Telafar a split plot arrangement in a randomized complete Block design with three replications was used .
The characters studies were: number of days to 50% flowering , plant height, spike length, number of grains/spike, number of spikes/m2 , Biological yield , grain yield, harvest index, 1000grain weight and protein percentage . The results were summarized as follows:-
1. The expected genetic advance values were ranged between low in both locations for number of days to 50% flowering and protein percentage and medium for biological yield and grain yield.
2. Genetic path coefficient analysis results showed that the number of spikes/m2 had the largest direct effects on grain yield following by number of grains/spike. |
