Abstract
The study aimed to isolation of the predominant bacteria – causing uterine and udder infections in ewes during the prepartum period, and determination of morbidity rate of mastitis that concurrent with metritis in sheep flock of college of veterinary medicine/ Al – Anbar university which contain 28 newly delivered ewes. The rate of bacteria isolated from the udder was reached to 12.73 % and those isolated from the reproductive system reached to 67.85 % while, those isolated from both of udder and reproductive system was 36.84% Serratia marcesencewas the predominant bacteria isolated from the genitalia,where it isolated from 4 ewes 21.05% from the total sum of bacterial isolates , in addition to E. coli, Mannheimia haemolytica, Enterobacter aerogens, Staphylococcus aureus, Coagulase– Negative Staphylococci and Arcanobacter pyogenes while, Staphylococcus aureuswas the predominant bacteria isolated from the udder, where it isolated from 3 ewes 42.88 % from the total sum of bacterial isolates in addition to Coagulase – Negative Staphylococci and Arcanobacter pyogenes .The gram negative bacteria appeared as the most bacteria isolated from genitalia, where it they recovered from 57.9 % of the total bacterial isolates while, all bacteria recovered from the udder were gram positive, with a significant difference (0.01>P) for causes of metritis and mastitis causes, one isolate of E.coli recovered from an abortion case .
