A Study of some haematological and biochemical changes during suckling and lactation periods in Hamdani ewes in Shaqlawaha region | ||

| Abstract | ||
| The study conducted at animal farm (Technical Institute / Shaqlawaha - Erbil) on 10 Hamdani ewes aged 1.5 to 3 years and weighed 40-50 kg to examine the changes in blood and biochemical values during suckling and post weaning period. Neither suckling nor lactation months (1,2 and 3) had a significant effect on erythrocytes account, haemoglobin, cholesterol, total protein concentrations and alkaline phosphates activity, While white blood cells were affected significantly (P< 0.01) by suckling and lactation months. Packed cell volumes (PCV) showed a non-significant difference between suckling months and significant difference (P<0.05) between the 3th month of lactation period in comparison with 1st and 2nd months. Suckling months had a non-significant effect on blood glucose conc., while blood glucose increased significantly (P<0.05) in thduring 1st month of lactation. Suckling months affected Aspartate Transaminase activity (AST) significantly with enzyme activity increasing during 2nd and 3rd months. Alanine Transaminase ATP activity was affected significantly (P < 0.05) and highly significantly (P<0.01) by suckling and lactation months respectively. Simple correlation coefficient values showed positive and highly significant (P<0.01) correlation between erythrocytes account with packed cell volumes and haemoglobin conc. , and between haemoglobin conc. with total protein, While the correlations between the white blood cell accounts with ALT activity was negative (P<0.01).The packed cell volume percentage correlated negatively (P<0.01) with blood glucose concentration. | ||
