| Abstract | ||
| An investigation was carried out at sheep and goat research farm- Abogreb-Iraq into the epidemiology of coenurosis in sheep and goat (1083Local Awassi, Turkish Awassi sheep and 414 local and Cyprus shami goat. Clinically sick animals were examined post mortem for the presence of the cystic larvae (Cenurus cerebralis) of Tenia multiceps. The clinical signs, breed. sex, Age of animals, number, diameter of the cyst, the amount of the fluid, and number of the scolices were recorded. Results show that the incidence of coenurosis 2.68%, 0% in sheep and goat respectively. There was significant difference (P<0.01) in the incidence of coenurosis between local and Turkish Awassi sheep breed. There was no significant sex difference in the incidence. The infection rates was 69% in less than two years old, and all clinically sick animals show presence of 1-2 Cenurus cerebralis cysts with diameter of 2-4 cm and the amount of the fluid 4-22cm3, the number of scolices in the cyst ranged from 139-161. | ||
