Effect of experimental Toxoplasma gondii infection on some morphological and histological malformation in uterus and placenta mothers of white Swiss mice strain Balb/c | ||

| Abstract | ||
| The study was carried out during the period between July 2006 till June 2007, on 40 pregnant female white Swiss mice (Mus-musculus) with strain Balb/C ,to investigate the effect of experimental toxoplasmosis as a cause of some externally and histologically malformation in uterus and placenta from mouse` mothers. Toxoplasma gondii was injected intraperitonially in the lower abdominal region at [day 30 (G1), day 20 (G2) and day 10 (G3)] before pregnancy ,and at day 6th after pregnancy for G4. Results for all infected group showed , the mean value of placental diameter and placental weight were significantly decreased in infected groups except G1 which showed non- significant variation in placental weights compared to the controls. Uterus malformation was clearly appeard in distribution, size of uterus, numbers and size of embryos in G1 and G2 in the two horns of uterus, with large reduction in size of two horns and number of embryo for G3 while in G4,asimilarities in the size uterus horns, numbers and distribution of embryos were clearly obvious in the uterus. The histological examination of placenta detect the phase of Toxoplasma gondii (Tachyzoite and cyst) in tissues of placenta only. Also the results show multiple tissue malformation due to infection with of Toxoplasma gondii, in the placenta and uterus. Placenta malformation in all infected groups appeared as high necrosis and haemorrhage due to blood congestion with focal inflammatory reactions resulted from uninuclear, lymphocyte infiltration, fibrin and bilrubin deposition, while uterus showed inflammatory cells infiltration with necrosis , congestion and haemorrhage in some regions by near in all groups . | ||
