| Abstract | ||
| Abstract : This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Saccharomyces cerevisiae & Nigella sativa on some productivity traits and biochemical parameters in Awassi lambs. The experiment included 20 males of Awassi lambs which divided randomly into four equal groups, each treatment contains 5 lambs and with homogenous primary weights for all experimental groups which fed together on experimental ration as follows: 1- Treatment one :-control group fed basic ration without of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Nigella sativa . 2- Treatment two:-basic ration with 0.02gm/kg Saccharomyces cerevisiae. 3- Treatment three:-basic ration with 2% Nigella sativa . 4- Treatment four:- basic ration with 0.02gm /kg fed Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Nigella sativa 2%. The experiment extended for 56 days ,and in the end of the experiment, 8 lambs were slaughtered which selected randomly (2 lambs from each treatment)to study some traits of carcass. The results can be summarized as follows:- - The different treatments had no significant effect on total weight gain and daily weight gain in the half first period of experiment (0-4) weeks which were (4.85, 5.60 ,7.92 and 5.88)kg and (173, 200, 283, 210 )g for control group, second, third and fourth treatments respectively. so the previous treatments had no significant effect on daily weight gain and total weight gain in the second period of experiment(4-8) weeks which were (2.52, 2.69,3.97 and 2.58) Kg and (90, 96, 142 and 92) g respectively. While there were a significant superiority in the third treatment in total weight gain and daily weight gain with different treatments during the total period of experiment(0-8) weeks which were(7.48,8.34,11.88 and 8.45) kg and (131, 148, 212 and 151) g respectively. - The different treatments do not appear a significant differences in feed conversion ratio which were being (5.48,5.71,3.97 and 5.72 )kg feed /kg weight respectively. - There was a significant superiority in area of longissumus dorssii muscle for treated group with Nigella sativa where was 20.25 cm2 compared to (14.43, 17.03 and 17.67)cm2 for first, second and fourth groups respectively. The all treatment had no significant effect on fat layer thickness which were (2.52,3.32,4.85 and 3.77) mm respectively. The treatments do not show a significant difference in dressing percentage among treatment which were (51.1,48.47,51.58 and 55.16)% respectively. - The results appeared a significant superiority (p<0.05) in total protein, albumin & globulin for treatment groups comparison with control group. A significantly decrease (p<0.05) of cholesterol level for treated groups was noticed compared to control group. | ||
