Abstract
Abstract : The effects of cadmium in mung bean ( Vigna radiata L. Wilczek) seedlings and cuttings grown in controlled environment with and with out Hoagland solution , using CdCl2 concentration of 0.0001-30 ppm have bean studied. Supplied of cadmium chloride affects seedlings ,epicotyls, hypocotyls, roots length as well as leaf area rather than adventitious roots formation in cuttings derived from seedlings grown with Cd. Mineral nutrition in the presence of Cd increased significantly root length and number and support the emergence of the 1-st true trifoliated leaf in seedlings and cuttings .Seedlings grown in Cd alone developed a significant increase in the primary leaf area compared to control by awide range of Cd concentrations (0.0001-2.5 ppm) ,while the primary leaf area of the seedlings grown with Cd +Hoagland solution raised only in the concentration 0.01 ppm compared to control.Cuttings derived from seedlings grown in Cd alone developed a significant increase in rooting responce compared to control and to cuttings derived from seedlings grown in reversed osmosis water and to cuttings derived from seedlings grown in Cd + Hoagland solution. These findings revealed that the toxic metal such as Cd at low levels have promoting effects in plants growth and metabolic activities correlated with adventitious roots formation.
