Prevalence of the (head louse) Pediculus humanus capitis among pupils in Tikrit city and neighbors | ||

| Abstract | ||
| This study was achieved in four of primary schools in Tikrit city and (Albo Ajeel) region. These schools are: - Abo Moosa Al-Ashaary for boys, Al-Fariaa for girls, Amina Bint Wahab for girls and Al-Bashaer for boys. These regions were different in their social, economic and cultural levels. The results present were appeared the distribution of the louse among the pupils of the mentioned schools (22.89%) after examination of (688) pupils. It was observed that the lice was found in the two girls schools Al-Fariaa and Amina Bint Wahab only in (15.09%) and (7.80%) respectively. While the parasite not detected in the tow boys' schools Abo Moosa AL-Ashaary and Al-Bashaer. The highest persent of the louse distribution was recorded in the (6-7 years age group) while the lowest was in (<10 year age group) (2.56%). The higher incidence of the insect was detected during March period (18.18%) and the lower was during December (6.15%). There was no difference between long and short hairs in infestation of the louse, but it was obviously that the negro hair has highest infestation compared with straight hair (12.08%) | ||
