| Abstract | ||
| Human seminal alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and sperm parameters were investigated for fertile and asthenospermia. Total ALP activity in 20 human seminal samples was measured colorimetrically. The results showed significant decrease (p<0.001) in sperm concentration and sperm motility index, and not significant decrease (p>0.05) in ALP activity in asthenospermic samples compared to normospermic samples. The second part of the study comprised the effect of different incubation periods (one, two and three) hour on total ALP activity and sperm motility index, for seven and five semen samples of asthenospermia and normospermia respectively. The results revealed not significant increase (p>0.05) in ALP activity with increasing of incubation period, while there are significant decrease in sperm motility index in aging asthenospermic (p<0.005) and normospermic (p<0.01) specimens. | ||
