The effects of crud aqueous and non proteinous extracts , proteinous precipitate and proteinous compound were studied on serum
glucose, total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride (TG), high and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) (LDL-C) levels, also glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels in liver, kidney and heart tissues in female albino mice which was exposed of oxidative stress induced by hydrogen peroxide. Extracts were administrated interaperitioneally.
The results indicated that after one week of treatment these extracts and compounds mentioned above caused significant decrease in serum glucose, TC, TG, LDL-C levels and MDA level in liver and kidney tissues, with an associated significant increase in GSH level in liver kidney and heart tissues, and only compound leads to increase HDL-C level in female mice which were exposed to oxidative stress. Finally, the results suggest that the most of extracts isolated from the tuber plants especially proteinous compound have an antioxidants and decrease blood glucose level. |
