This research study the effect of the Punica shell on coccidiosis by parasite Eimeria spp. in broiler chicks.
A total of 120 broiler chicks were used, divided into 2 main groups, 60 chicks for each group A and B .
The birds of each group are randomly collected into pins, each contains
20 chicks, the chicks on the 1st pin of each group were given at the nineth day of age, crushed and water extract of Punica shell with meal by concentration of 0.0125gm/gm for group A and 0.00625gm/gm for group B, the chicks of the 2"d pins of each group were giving the water extract of substance, with drinking water by concentraticr 0.0125gm/ml for group A and 0.00625 gm/ml for group B, and without substance for the chicks of the 3rd pins (control group).
All groups of experiment were infected at the 25th day of age with 50000 sporulated oocysts of live Eimeria. tenella, and other species . E. brunette, E. necatrix , E. maxima, E. acervulina, E. mevati and E. praecox In suspension prepared by which was crop inoculation and daily recorded to the end of the experiment , the % percentage of mortality, clinical signs, body weight with weight gain , and fecal examination for oocysts count the results which pointed out a reduced of severe infection with this substance by significantly P<0.05 in mortality, clinical signs, oocysts count comparing with that of control. The weight gain was affected effeted negatively with this substance when it used with meal but it was'nt affect with drinking water, so we recommended to use this substance with drinking water of broiler chicks especially by concentration 0.00625 gm/ml. |
