Abstract
Abstract Bing proud of Uncle Ancestry in Pre–Islamic Poetry Sense of belonging to the motherُs ancestry (Uncle) is an unignorable relationship. It is the results of a tight social inter – relationship which had been out of the Pre–Islamic individual thinking, positively or negatively. The honour of such belongingness is related to factor of the uncle’s Tribal might and status, which had the Pre – Islamic individual take a decisive and clear stand from his Uncles. This could be defined in the principle of equality between his maternal and paternal Uncles if they were from two different tribes. Because if the ancestral of the maternal Uncles does not correspond with that of paternal uncle, it will result in defame and it will be considered a shame. But when the maternal uncle belongs to the same tribe as that of the paternal one, there will not be any harsh conflict in their relations, because the Pre – Islamic individual had believed that belonging to the same ancestry creates social congruity between the maternal and paternal uncles. The adherence of the Pre – Islamic individual to his ancestry sprang from the belief that the maternal uncles sponsor their nephew if he was not able to compete them with a stout father, a powerful family and a combating tribe which can defend it self by materialistic and spiritual values. Thus the relationship between the two was depended on political or war utility. This collective way of thinking had led certain society individuals to social and intellectual conflict which had made them adopt such values perhaps some of them, like the rogues (Assa’aleeks), rebelled against this given them social protection. Thus the Pre – Islamic individual had formed his thought and attitude to accept his maternal uncle when he found it a source of pride, and honour which he tries to attain, and he had refused the idea when he did not find it as source of pride and when he found it a factor of destroying his own fame and glory and that could defame his ancestral reputation.
