C-reactive protein and plasma fibrinogen in patients with stable angina pectoris | ||

| Abstract | ||
| The study included 48 patients with stable angina pectoris and 41 control subiects to evaluate lhe association between inflammatory markers (C-reactive protein and plasma fibrinogen) and angina Pectoris. The study revealed that plasma fibrinogen (P<0.001), C-reactive protein (P<0.01), as welt as lipid profile (total cholesterol (P<0.001), low-density lipoprotein chotesrerol (p<0.01), triglycerides (P<0.01) and low-densib, lipoprotein cholestercl,&igh-densiq, iipoFotein cholestercl rario (p<0.01) were significantly higher anong patients with stable angim pectoris compared to controls. Wlile, rhere was ro significant diferences in high-density, lipoprotein chotesterol level between patienB ano onnols ( P 0.05). The present study clearly demonstmted a strong association berween inflanmatory markers and angina pectotis, suggesting a role for these rnarken in the pathogenesis and the progression of coronary heal.t disease | ||
