| Dufing the pefiod belween January 2004 till September 2005, rwo hundr€d wonen wer€ divided inro rwo gfoups. One huDdfed pr€gnant ard anothef non-pregnani in different ages beginning nrl5 year to 45 ycaf, wefe s"bjecred to low vaginal swab in order ro obtain specimens for detemining rhe l?re of vaginal colonization with N gonollhoeae and fisk factor, which werc obtanred by direcr questionnaire ro oorarn prelirnirary guide fbr tho rnethod of pfophylaxis against many mate rat and nconatat N. gonor oeae irvasive diseases. Idenfification confirmatory ]€sr fot N. ganothoeae has beeD done by usrDg ue conventional laboraiory rrethods including gmn] stanr, difecr and indirecr cuttur€ supplemented by othef conllrmatory biochemical meihods (API:o System. Niesseria). Twenq/-rhfee percent ofrhe sludied pregnart woinen wefe found to be colaniT.ed with N. gonothrede as compared with non-pregnant controt group in whonr dre mte of vagiral colonization was (18%). Soine faciors have been evatuared which may or nor conh:bute ro the incrcasing rate ofcolonizarion. Among these, age was found lo be a sjgnificanl fisk factor in which the colonizalion rate was found to be higlr (68.2%) in wonen wbo arc bel.ore 3j years ofage. The pafily were irdividually evaiuared fof their contriburion as risk facroB for the inctease of N. gonoffhoede colonization in which lhree and nofe were found ro be associared with significant nrcfease rate ofAt gonothoeae colonizarion in additioD_ to socioeconomic l€vet.
