Abstract
Abstract Analytic study to measure the speed and achievement of the three first winners in the track and fields championship of the Iraqi Universities for the years (2007-2008), (2008-2009) The academic championships and sport activities which are accomplished annually by the Iraqi union of the academic sport come by the first rank in development of Iraqi sport, where the history of the national teams in different sports refer to refulgent names who started their ways in such championships. The researcher participated in most of Iraqi universities track and field championships and he noticed a fluctuation and inferiority in most of these activities, therefore; the research focused on level of development or inferiority of these activities depending on the speed of the three first winners in each activity of the short, medium, and long distances running activities in the last two championships which were organized by the Iraqi union of the academic sport for the years (2007-2008), (2008-2009). The research supposed that there are significant differences in the levels of achievement and speed of the study activities. The samples of the research were the three first winners of the short, medium, and long distances running activities for the years (2008-2009). The results showed a development in the short distances at a ratio (5%), and an inferiority in the medium distance at a ratio between (1%─ -3%).For the long distances there was a noticed inferiority belong the level of aspiration. The recommendations of the researcher were the establishment and codification of the training methods that fulfill the achievement level in the long distances, preparing the specialized trainers of the medium and long distances, establishing evaluating courses for the athletics level in universities for different distances, study of the organization side which fulfill the good sport level in track and field sports, support of the track and field sports in Iraqi universities in a better ways, and providing the training demands.
