| Abstract | ||
| Abstract This study deals with the location analysis of the desert phenomenon in Al Muthana Province taking into considerations the natural factors that cause this phenomenon. The lands that are influenced by this phenomenon have recently increased. The study relies on the sat photographs that were taken by a series of satellites (American Land Sat) as well as the Google Earth. These photos are used for determining the desert lands in the area and the factors that cause that. By analyzing these photos and field studying in different areas, it is discovered there are many parts of the province has been suffering of the desert problem that has led to the destruction of many farming lands or farms that are already planted. This is due to the continuity of this phenomenon and the weakness of the governmental departments to put an end to it. -We find that there are main factors that cause this phenomenon in the area. They are as follows: - The increase of the temperature and the insufficiency of the rain lead to the fastness of Trans evaporation and piling up of the salt. -Discontinuous raining with strong momentums lead to the destruction of soil and harvests. -The moving of the sand threatens many areas in the Gavenranorate because of the wind. -The derease of the inside waters. -Depending on the water of the wells for watering the lands. By time, the salt level of the inside waters increases and hence the soil salt level increases. This in fact leads to the desertefication of the lands. -The wind leads to the fastness of the dryness of the plants and their permanent withering especially if the dryness period is long. It also tears and plucks out the plants especially if their roots are sallow. This leads to the demolition of the green lands, especially in the western parts of the province. | ||
