architecture. The speed ofthe processor depends on how the layout designs

speedoftlreelectricalsignaltravelingtlrroughofthegates.Since,thebasic
elementsofthegatesarenranufacturedfiornasemiconductormaterials,
tlrentheelectricalsignalspassestlrrouglritneedsacertaintimewhich
considerveryshortforasirrglegatebutitisnoticedforoverallthe
processor chip. Besides, there is a heat problent due to the electrical signals
traveling through the senlicottductor ntaterial'
Replacing these electronic gates by a laser gates gives increasing of
the speed of passing signal through the gate' and then reducing the
processitrgtinleforalltlrcproccssorrr'itlrouthighincreasirrgirr
temperature.
Theobjectiveoftlrisresearchistobuildupatheoreticaldesigrrof
laser logical gates instead of the electronic logical gates to ensure high
$,ork efticiency for the processor. Since the designing of the three known
gates(NoT,oR,andANDgates)isdonetlreoreticallyusinganoptical
elements instead of electronic elements. The laser logical gate components
aredesignedusingasinglenrainfeedinglasersource,filters,reflectors,
linear polari zer, andphase rotator polarizer' Photo detectors can be used to
receivethelasersignats.Theprocessorlalotttsbasedorrlasergatesensure
a very high speed near to the speed of light because the used signal is
electromagnetic waves not an electrical signal |
