| Abstract | ||
| This research is about one notable man from the Islamic history who has played a significant role in the political and military life of Islamic state at its dawn. He is ‘Itba bin Ghazwan (may God be pleased with him), a companion of the prophet. His military and constructional achievements are tackled in this research. He accompanied the prophet(God’s blessing and peace be upon him) in all his wars against the enemies of Islam. He also shared in the wars of apostasy and the wars of Arabic liberation. Caliph ‘Omar bin Alkhattab(may God be pleased with him) sent him to Basra in order to support Sa’ad bin Abi Waqas army in Kuffa and protect the confrontation lines of Muslims lest the Persians support their followers against the Muslim troops. After God blessed him with conquering Al-Abilla, Dast Meisan, Abizqabad and Al-Ahwaz where he established an Arabic rule, he began some constructional works; he established Basra, populated it and built a general mosque. He made many rivers in order to improve agriculture. Due to his asceticism, he refused the position of Amir. Later in his life, he decided to make the pilgrimage to Mecca, but the second Caliph ordered him to go back to Basra where he died on his way back in 17 A.H. | ||
