| Abstract: The aim of this study was to assess the effects of cypermethrin on the common carp, Cyprinus carpio. The effect was assessed on the basis of the results of sublethal toxicity tests, and comparison the results of behaviour, haematological and micronuclei alterations examination of a control and an experimental groups exposed to cypermethrin. The sublethal exposure studies were done for up to 21 days at 1/5 and 1/10 of 96 h LC50 was found to be 4.4μg/l. Bahavioral changes at each cypermethrin concentrations were recorded. Haematological parameters of C. carpio were measured weekly for three consecutive weeks. The experimental groups showed a significant decrease (p<0.05) in erythrocytes count (EC), haemoglobin percentage (Hb), haematocrit counts (HCT,%) as well as mean cellular haemoglobin concentration (M.C.H.C) and a significant increase (p<0.05) values of totl leucocytes (TLC) and blood indice mean cellular volume (M.C.V) compared to the control group with respect to the increase in exposure in both sublethal concentrations. There was not significant difference in value of mean cellular haemoglobin (M. C. H.) in the experimental groups compared with control group. Cypermethrin caused adverse effects in fish tests, chromosomal damage was determind as micronuclei (MN) frequency in fish erythrocytes. In general, significant effects (p<0.01) for both concentration were observed in exposed fish. | ||
