Abstract
This study was carried out at the Poultry Farm, Department of Animal Resources, College of Agriculture, University of Baghdad during the period of March 27 to May 22, 2004. One-hundred and fifty one-day old unsexed Luhman chicks were used. This was conducted to determine study the effects of addition of garlic powder during the period 5 to 8 weeks with levels of 0.2 and 0.4% on some productive, physiological and immunological characteristics. Results showed that the body weight and weight gain was increased significantly (p<0.01), and total feed consumed was decreased significantly for the groups that fed diet Supplemental with garlic powder compared with the control group, and consequently the former groups had better feed conversion ratio than the later group. A significantly increase in dressing percentage was showed for treated groups compared to control group, while a non-significant differences between groups was showed for the different cut up parts. Non-significant differences were occurred between treatment groups for the physiological parameters studies except of decreasing in the cholesterol level in treated groups compared to control groups. No Significant difference in humeral immunity between the treatment of Newcastle and Gmboro disease, but cellular mediated immunity has been increased significantly (p<0.01) with level of 0.4% compared with those fed on other treatment groups after 24hrs.of the test, wherease no significant differences have been showed in the treatments after 48hrs. A Significant decreasing (p<0.01) has showed in microorganisms and microbes counting at 8 weeks of age in the treatments groups compared to the control groups
