Inheritance of Blood Glucose in Local Iraqi Fowl and Its Association with Productive Trails | ||

| Abstract | ||
| The present study was carried out from May 2000 to July 2001 at the facilities of the department on 130 male and 150 female progenies of ten parents and 50 dam. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of some certain environmental factors (age, sex and weight) on blood gucose, and to show the effect of phenotype and genotype of Blood glucose and its association with productive trait (egg production, egg mass and weight of first egg). The result showed significant effect of sex, age on blood glucose. The coefficient regression of weight on blood glucose was – 0.34 and it was significant, the heritability of egg production, egg weight, weight and age at sexual maturity, egg mass were 0.16, 0.46, 0.40, 0.44, 0.52 respectively. There were negative significant genetics correlation between blood glucose and age production was (-0.39). The genetic, phenotypic and environmental correlation between blood glucose and egg weight were -0.23, -0.24, -0.16, there were negative genetic, phenotypic and environmental correlation between age at sexual maturity and blood glucose but not significant. There were significant genetic, phenotypic correlation between blood glucose and the weight of first egg. It was concluded from this study that there were effect of genetic and environmental factors on blood glucose and production traits of local Iraqi chicken. | ||
