This study has conducted to determine the effect of dietary supplementation with garlic powder on some productive and physiological traits of laying. A total of 96 Hy – Line hens had been used. At age of 38 weeks birds were reared in individual cages and distributed into three treatments as follow: Control group (C) without garlic powder supplementation to diet, supplementation of garlic powder at level of 2 kg / ton feed (T1), and supplementation of garlic powder at level of 4 kg / ton feed (T2).
The traits of body weight, feed intake, feed conversion ratio, egg weight, Hen – day (H.D.) and egg mass have been studied each two weeks. However, at the end of experiment egg cholesterol, total Red Cells Count (RBC), total White Cells Count (WBC), Packed Cell Volume (PCV%), Blood Hemoglobin (Hb), H / L ratio, total protein and uric acid had been studied.
The results revealed that there were significant improvements (P<0.05) in egg weight, H.D. %, feed conversion ratio, egg mass. Furthermore, there were no significant differens as ragards in RBC, WBC, PCV%, Hb, H/L ratio, total protein and uric acid. However, significant decrease (P<0.01) in cholesterol concentration of yolk egg was observed.
On the otherhand, T1 (2 kg /garlic powder / feed ton) surpass T2 (4 kg / garlic powder / feed ton), in most of the traits included in the current experience. In conclusion, dietary supplementation with garlic powder resulted in significant improvement in productive performance and egg cholesterol concentration. |
