Differences of some Tomato varieties in quality and quantity | ||

| Abstract | ||
| Abstract : This research has been applied for the seasons of 2007 and 2008 to study 14 imported tomato varieties in the Hawija – Kirkuk province to compare the production (quantity and quality of the product) in order to choose the suitable variety for the said area. Results showed that varieties vary considerably in planting span to Flowering and from planting to fruit maturity. Shahad variety required 116.37 and 120.91 days for Flowering while Marwa variety needed 60.65 and 64.16 days for the two studied seasons respectively. Number of tomato fruit per cluster has varied as well. Master heat variety recorded the highest average of production reached 9.3 and 8.83 fruit/cluster, while Saria variety was the lowest production average namely 262 and 3.01 fruit/cluster. The varieties expressed different in sizes, weights and production which recorded 16.68 and 15.93 ton/donum for Heat Master, while Shahad variety the gave 2.25 and 3.01 ton/donum. Ratios of dissolved Solid Substances, Acidity, C-Vitamin, Caroten pigment and Lycobin pigment varied as well. | ||
