Prof. Dr.Eftikhar A Ali To understand theresearch approaches, we need to consider three framework elements: philosophical assumption about what constitute knowledge claims, general procedures of research called strategies of inquiry, and detailed procedure of data collection, analysis and writing, called methods Three considerations play into selecting an approach decision: the research problem, the personal experiences of the researcher, and the audience(s) for whom the report will be written. The aims of this research are: - Identifying the quantitative and qualitative approaches in researches and their properties when using them in sport field. - Assessing and understanding some the published swimming sport - researches, to identify the type of research approaches they follow. In the social sciences, and psychology, the use of one or other type of method can be a matter of controversy. The majority tendency throughout the history of social science, however, is to use eclectic approaches-by combining both methods. This combination of quantitative and qualitative data gathering is often referred to as mixed-methods research We hope to provide enough material to help researchers to appreciate the diversity of potential methods and to adopt a more critical perspective in their own research consumption and production.
