	THE KNOWLEDGE NEEDS FOR OKRA FARMERS AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH SOME VARIABLES IN DISTRACT OF HAMIDAT / NINEVEH GOVERNORATE

Abstract
Research aims at identifying knowledge needs of okra farmers in Hamidat district in general and the rank fields of research according to the needs for farmers to them. also to determine the correlation between the knowledge needs of farmers okra and independent variables in the research, the rank items of research according to the needs for farmers to them. For the purpose of obtaining research data adopted a questionnaire composed of two parts: the first part: includes questions to obtain information on personal and social, economic and communication especially farmers, and the part and the second part included (5) fields to scales the knowledge needs of farmers, which included the first field (the selection of product),( 6) items, and included the second field (land preparation, planting and serving the crop) (9) items, included a third field (diseases and insects that affect the crop) (10) items, and included the fourth field (irrigation and fertilization) on (12) items, and included the fifth fields (maturity and harvesting and marketing) (9) items, after ensure of the face validity of the items of the scale the reliability was found by the insiplit-half method, the reliability coefficient (0.80) . and after unloading Data were statistically analyzed using several statistical methods and the most important percentages and simple Pearson correlation coefficient and the correlation coefficient of Spearman. The search included all okra farmers in the Hamidat district (700) a farmer, where I took a simple random sample of them by 10% and by 70 farmers. The results showed that the knowledge needs of farmers in the Hamidat district in general is medial, also shows that the first field is (irrigation and fertilization), show a correlation significantly positive between the knowledge needs of farmers okra and the independent variables the following :-( age, educational attainment, number of years of experience in agriculture ), and the results did not show a correlation significant between the knowledge needs of farmers okra and independent variables as follows: (agricultural land area, sources of agricultural information for crop okra), also found that the top three items are(type pollination in flower okra, the parts that parasitize the aphids on the plant okra, the distinction between symptoms of diseases affecting the crop),respectively, as the researcher recommends action to lift and enhance the level of knowledge of farmers in the grow of crop okra, through the admission training courses include all information on how to grow okra crop.
