Abstract
Research was conducted during the 2010-2011 winter season in the field of Babylon province to study the response characteristics of varieties of Broad bean (Vicia faba L.) to levels of compound fertilizer and path coefficient analysis to determine the characteristics of the most influential components made in the seed yield. Follow the randomized complete block design with three replications and two factors, first factor of four varieties of Broad bean and the second factor of five levels of compound fertilizer NPK. Results of the analysis showed that the means of square to varieties was significant and at a level of 1% probability and all the characters except seed yield. The trend analysis of levels of fertilization, it was found that the response of the characters and appropriate levels of fertilization were second-degree (Quadratic) for 100 seed weight, and the third degree (Cubic) to the number of seeds /pod to the number of tillers/ plant, the relationship was not non significant for the other characters. And gave the Foly variety at fertilization (40 kg /d) averages the highest number of tillers/ plant, length of pod, the number of pods /plant, 100 seed weight and seed yield. The indicated values of correlation coefficients simple on the existence of positive correlation and significant between seed yield and other characters. Analysis coefficient path that the direct effects on the character seed yield were positive and high for the characters of the number of pods/ plant and number of seeds /pod and 100 seed weight, while the most valuable effect of indirect character length of pod by number of seeds/ pod, and it can be adopted in the above characters as selection index for the improvement of seed yield in Broad bean.
