A field experiment was conducted in the lands of lower khalis project in Al-Rashidiya area, 22 km north of Baghdad of city center, to study the effect of drainage type and two depth of leaching norm in leaching salt out of 0 -120 cm in a silty loam texture , the experiment included six treatment, three main treatment of different drainage systems ( asbestos tubes, plastic tubes, and open field drains ) and sub treatment, two depth of leaching norms (the first depth was calculated 200mm as it matches the field capacity limit, while the second norm was 300 mm one and half of the water content at the field capacity limit for 120 cm soil depth). Experiment was designed under split plot design of
)crbd ) in three replicates, chemical and physical properties of the soil were determined . Result showed that there were significant different between of the open drains system with 200 mm leaching norm and with the plastic, and asbestos tube drains with both depths of leaching norms, and soil pH values were increased after leaching , besides there was significant difference in EC values of the 300 mm leaching norm of the asbestos tube drains compared with the plastic tube drains and open field drains for both depth of leaching norms and soil. Generally the salinity decreases in three drainage system in two leaching norm average 92% and 89 % continually. |
