Abstract
Women rights and their role in society is an important subjects. Women's situation has not been steady. It went through considerably different stages. Throughout it woman has been an influential factor in the integration of life. To find out more about the features of woman career within the civilization framework, two different civilizations of different environments (Mesopotamian and Greek) will be investigated.In Mesopotamia the status of woman is related to the sons' relations to their mothers. The society in Mesopotamia has given the woman a distinguished status that promoted her to divinity, government, keep her wealth and give her possessions as she pleases. Leadership has been associated with woman's ability to face realities in different life aspects. She also enjoyed a great amount of freedom and equity that maintained her dignity as their legends and laws show. The woman's situation in Greece, however, was just the opposite. Greek society looks at woman merely as a slave. Because men have strong passion to wars and believe in nothing but force, they paid no attention to woman who represented the weak. So she lived humiliated, enslaved and used for nothing but keeping the human race. This, in turn, deprived her of her rights and left her helpless and valueless. The Greek law ill-treated the woman depriving her of heritance, the right to divorce and education. She had no authority, not even over her own children. The absolute power was in the hands of man and this marginalized her role and status. It won't be too much if we said that the Greek totally ignored the woman.
