| Abstract | ||
| This is a study of the contextual meaning of two morphological forms of one verb which are (Naja) and (Anja) as used in the holy Quran> Although the linguist Sebawayh (D. 180 AH.) states that the addition of Hamza to the three forms verb is intended to signify plurality (and also erasing), other linguists believed that these two forms are the same in meaning and that the second is an emphatic form of the first. Yet, the second form connotes the quickness of response and answer. So (Anja) is used for quickness as it is faster than (Naja) in relieving distress. Finally, I agree with the correspondence between meaning and utterance in all the Quranic verses as dictated by the context in which they occur. | ||
