| Two new oxime ligands were prepared,the frist ((H2L): 2-hydroxyphenylene-N,O-hexylidine-1-one oxime and the second (H2B): benzaldehyde-2- hydroxyl-N,O-pentylidine-5-one oxime. Each new ligand (H2L,H2B) was reacted with Cu(II) and Zn(II) in ethanol/water to give series of new metal complexes of molecular formula: Cu(HL)2, Cu(HB)2, Zn(HL)2.2H2O and Zn(HB)2.2H2O. All compounds have been characterized by spectroscopic methods IR, U.V-Vis, Atomic Absorption, microanalysis of elements (C.H.N) along with molar conductivity.From the above data each ligand (H2L) and (H2B) behave as a bidentate ligand forming neutral metal complexes via the phenolic oxygen and the oxime nitrogen. The M-O stretching frequencies for the transition metals showed a good agreement with the lrving-William׳s stability order Cu >Zn. Similar trend is seen for the M-N stretching frqunencies | ||
