| Abstract | ||
| In this work 7-hydroxy-4-methyl coumarin (2) was prepared from ethyl –β-methoxy crotonate with resorcinol in the presence of poly phosphoric acid (PPA) and then converted into the 7-(2-propynyloxy)-4- methyl coumarin (3) by using propargyl bromide. The compound (3) on treatment with secondary amines and formaldehyde afforded Mannich products (4-8). The prepared compounds were verified by their IR, UV spectra and C. H. N. analysis data. | ||
