| Abstract | ||
| 5-Ethyl-5-phenyl barbituric acid has been refluxed with 2-Bromoacetic acid in methanol in presence of sodium carbonate to give 5-Ethyl-5-phenyl barbituryl -1-acetic acid, which has been converted to 5-Ethyl-5-phenyl barbituryl-1-acetyl chloride by treatment with thionyl chloride, then converted to acid hydrazide by refluxing with hydrazine hydrate (99%). Schiff's bases have been synthesized by treatment of acid hydrazide with different aldehyde and ketone, then cyclization of Schiff's bases have been achieved by mercapto acetic acid. All compounds were characterized by IR, UV spectra and C.H.N. analysis | ||
