| Abstract | ||
| This study traces the concept of meaning among Arabism critical heritage , through tracing the saying and writing of Arab scholars since pre-Islamic period until the end of the Jordan age (died 474 H.).This period is considered the stage during which the critical approach crystallized and was separated from Arabic rhetoric. The study arrived at several results among which the most important is that meaning is the thing on which the process of explaining and understanding depends. It is what the writer or man of letters intends to convey to the reciever. Critics have put conditions for meaning in the literary speech, the most important of these is to convey it in the best form of articulation as possible, it shoud not be ambiguous or rare, and it shoud be completely clear. Ingeneral,the concept of meaning among Arab critics does not differ from the concept of meaning in the rhetorical heritage of Arabs. This is because rhetoric and criticism had one start, and they continued like this until the end of the fourth century after Hijra, when the qualities of the critical theory developed among Arabs | ||
