| Abstract | ||
| Abstract Objective: Subjective (Rhinomanometry) assessment and correlation before and after septal surgery. Methods: A prospective study on 100 patients undergoing septoplasty with pre and postoperative assessment of subjective nasal obstruction, clinical rhinoscopic findings and subjective rhinomanometric measures. Results: The mean nasal airway resistance (NAR) has decreased from 0.63 Pa/cm3/s preoperatively to 0.24 postoperatively with a drop of 62%, while the nasal airflow has increased from 262 to 743cm3/s. There was a marked correlation between the objective and subjective results, 68-80% (preoperative) and 80-87% (postoperative). Conclusion: It is recommended to use rhinomanometry in patient selection for septoplasty. Key words: Rhinomanometry, septoplasty. | ||
