Abstract :
This experiment was conducted during 2011and 2012 to evaluate the addition of poultry manure , land grass cutting waste alone or the two kinds together on some cucumber vegetative growth , yield of Sayf cv. and physical properties of soil. Treatments where included the addition of poultry manure at 1%,2%and 4%of soil weight , land grass wastes as 0.5%of soil weigh, a combination of 2% poultry manure + 0.5% land grass and control treatment without any organic waste addition. Completely Randomized Design used and all data were statistically analyze and the means of treatments were examined by L.S.D (P>0.05).
The results indicated that the addition of organic wastes increased plant height, leaf number ,leaf area and chlorophyll content .Treatment of 4% poultry manure showed the higher values on growth characteristics which were179.66 cm plant height ,30 leaf per plant , 25.40 dc2 leaf area and 81.67 spad chlorophyll content whilst the control treatment gave 107.56 cm ,17.33 leaf ,13.20 dc2 and 64.48 spad respectively .The treatment of 2% poultry manure + 0.5% land grass waste produced better fruit numbers and yield were 28.66 fruits per plant and 2.894 Kg total yield per plant .Treatment of 1% poultry manure produced high fruit weight were 108.167 gr. Whilst the control gave 10.33 fruit per plant , 105.167 gr. fruit weight and 1.086 Kg yield . On the other hand there were a significant effect of poultry manure and land grass wastes addition on pH ,EC of the soil and on water holding capacity. |
