| Abstract | ||
| The immune response that was induced by Toxoplasma gondii infection was found to be protective to mother, but it was deleterious to the fetus; i. e. the infection induced an immunopathological state in the fetus. The induction of high levels of TNF – α , IFN – , IL - 1α , IL – 6 , IL – 8 and IL – 10 due to T. gondii infection may exert an inhibitory effect on serodiagnosis (inhibition the synthesis of progesterone and estradiol) which may explain their possible role in termination of pregnancy. The mechanisms of the other factors may be also induced after T. gondii infection. | ||
