Abstract
In this work , we have been studied the effect of some influences on the properties of transformer oil, the effect of gap distance, water content and temperature on the dielectric breakdown voltage of the transformer oil. We observed that the breakdown voltage of transformer oil increases as the gap distance is increased using (10 mm) st.st. spherical electrodes under DC voltages. There is a marked decrease in the breakdown voltage with increases of the amount of content water. Also, there is a strong dependence of the DC breakdown voltage on the temperature, where breakdown voltage decreases with increasing temperature up to 100oC.
