| Abstract | ||
| The longitudinal profile of extensive air showers (EAS) is depend on the energy, type and mass of the incident primary particle. One of its characteristics, the atmospheric depth of shower maximum (Xmax), is often used to reconstruct the elemental composition of primary cosmic rays. The number of charged particles (N) in EAS as a function of atmospheric depth is intimately related to the type and energy of the primary particle. The dependence of the particle number maximum position, in air showers as a function of primary energy Eo is considered in the energy range Eo=1013-1016 eV. It was found that in this energy range the linear dependence between Xmax and logEo for electromagnetic, hadronic and nuclear showers is observed. | ||
