	Study on some hematological and biochemical characteristics ofNajdi and Arabi ewes during late gestation and lactation periods

Abstract
This study was conducted in animal farm – college of Agriculture – University of Basra , form 17/9/2012 to 17/12/2012 , Ten Najdi pregnant ewe (50-60 Kg weight) and ten Arabi pregnant ewes (35 - 45 Kg weight) years of age .Were used the objectives of study were to estimaten the biochemical and blood characteristics during last two months of pregnancy period as well as the first month of lactation .The results showed significant differences (P< 0.05) in red cell count, hemoglobin , package cell volume and white cell count during last month of pregnancy and lactation period in both breeds. Najdi ewes were significantly (P< 0.05) higher in weight than arabi ewes and proceeded (P< 0.05) in all blood characteristics compared to Arabibreeds .Embryo sex led to significant (P< 0.05) effect on some bloodcharacteristics in two breeds and pregnant with females' embryos were superior than the pregnant with males embryo in red cell count and hemoglobin .The values of cholesterol concentration glucose , total protein , albumin and globulin were significantly (P< 0.05) higher during last week of pregnancy period and also during first week of sucking . Najdi ewes were superior than Arabi ewes preceded Najdi ewes in total protein concentration and globulin .Glucose concentration was not affected by ewes weights . In spite of the mathematical differences in all biochemical compositions of blood in both breeds, the results revealed no significant effect of embryo sex on them .
