| The study was conducted on 15 mature Awassi rams ( 32 month aged ) with average weight 75.85 ± 1.11 kg to evaluate the effect of grazing and vitamin A palmitate injection (0.05 ml = 50000 IU /ram weekly ) in semen characters, testosterone and estrogen concentration, the rams were randomly assigned into 3 groups ( 5 rams / group ) and treated for 3 months as following : 1st group: ( Control ) rams were reared on standard ration and injected with 0.05 ml of physiological saline weekly, 2nd and 3rd groups rams were reared on standard ration and injected i.m with Vit. A- palmitate ( 50000IU/ ram weekly ) as well as 4hrs grazing/ daily for the ram in 3rd group. Semen and blood samples collected monthly for determination of semen characters , testosterone and estrogen concentration. Results showed that Vit A and grazing causes a significant (P ≤ 0.05 ) improvement in semen traits as : Ejaculate volume, Mass motility, Individual motility % , Live sperm %, Abnormal sperm%, Sperm concentration in 2nd and 3rd groups compared with control group, also the results showed a significant increase in testosterone concentration in 2nd and 3rd groups and a significant decrease in estrogen concentration in 2nd and 3rd groups compared with control group. Also there are a significant (P ≤ 0.05 ) improvement in most of semen characters at 3rd month compared with 1st and 2nd months in all groups of study, while there are a significant (P ≤ 0.05 ) increase in testosterone concentration at 2nd and 3rd months compared with 1st month in 2nd and 3rd groups and a significant decrease in estrogen concentration at 2nd and 3rd months in all groups. In general, results of the current study revealed that the better improvement in semen characters and testosterone concentration was achieved in the rams that subjected to grazing and Vit. A treatment together at the 3rd month ( February ) of treatment. |
