Study the Inhibitory Activity of Thymus vulgaris Oil Against Many Pathogenic Bacteria | ||

| Abstract | ||
| This study was aimed to find inhibitory activity for Thyme oil toward some Gram positive pathogenic bacteria: Staphylococcus aureus and Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Listeria monocytogenes, Micrococcus antarcticus and Enterococcus faecium, Bacillus cereus, Lactobacillus casei subsp. rhamnosus and Gram negative pathogenic bacteria: Neisseria meningitidis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Yersinia enterocolitica and Klebsiella pneumoniae and Proteus mirabilis and Shigella flexneri and Salmonella typhi and Enterobacter aerogenes using disc diffusion methods , as results showed that thyme oil was effect against Gram positive and negative bacteria in high concentrations (dilution (10:1)) was the highest activity towards bacteria Listeria monocytogenes in inhibition diameter (47) mm for the Gram positive bacteria while the highest activity toward bacteria Neisseria meningitidis, Yersinia enterocolitica, Salmonella typhi inhibition in diameter (36) mm for that Gram negative bacteria and the thyme oil was effect in high concentrations better than the effect of antibiotic: Ciprofloxacin. | ||
