Abstract :
The experiment was conducted during the seasons of 2011-2012 inside the greenhouse of the Technical Institute /Al- Musaib. the study includes; three treatments of container volume (32 ,92.2, 151.1 cm3),and five treatments of growth medium(100% sand , 100% peat moss and mixing loamy sand with peat moss ration 15:85, 30: 70, 45: 55 respectively. the split plot system according to RCBD DESIGN WAS USED WITH three replication.
The results showed that the bigger volume of container (151.1 cm3) caused the best significant increase in the vegetative growth parameters, which represented in the total leaf number and leaf area, leaf component of total chlorophyll and the dry to maturity was decreased, while the number of in weight of shoots and roots , also the day to mat showed decreases in the rate of harvesting days , increasing in the number of florescence per plant, the fruit dry matter ,sugars percent, the mean of fruit weight number of fruit/plant. Early and total yield and fruit set in the first five inflorescence were increased as compared with small container.
The results showed that the mixing of loam sand with peat moss affected significantly in the mean of vegetative, flowering and fruiting parameters. The growth of maxing with loamy sand with peat moss at ratio 15:85 gave the best increased in vegetative growth and reproductive characteristic as compared with other treatments.
The results demonstrated that the interaction between the two factors had effected significantly on growth and yield . the big volume of container and the growth media consisted loamy sand and peat moss at ratio 15:85 gave the highest means of the above investigated parameter . the early and total yield per square meter was recorded by 1.42 and 5.41 kg respectively. |
